Where to find you: I'm also cardiovorus on AO3, although I pretty much only lurk using this account over there right now.
When did you start watching Merlin: I caught only a few episodes on the telly when it first aired, but in 2023 I started to watch it from the beginning. I was looking for something new to watch while boring myself to death on the treadmill, and I'd read a couple of Merlin fics (mostly) fandom-blind years back and found them quite fun.
What turned you into a fan? I think what especially stands out to me, seeing many of these episodes for the first time in the 2020s, is that Merlin has such a lighthearted way of tackling its own (fairly grim, in some places) plot. I like that it doesn't take itself too seriously all the time, and that for every deathly serious "will they die," sort of plotline, there's also an equal and opposite "someone experiences a love spell and embarrasses themselves," one. It stands out as a good mix of tones and it's a bit of a relief in a kind of grim, dimly-lit, bloody fantasy tv landscape.
Who is your favourite character? Morgana. She's pretty and complicated, especially in the earlier seasons. I also think Gwaine and Gaius are really fun characters (erm, in different ways to one another...), but in less of a focused Blorbo Mode way.
What is your favourite ship? I end up reading a lot of Merlin/Arthur because there's a lot of Merlin/Arthur on AO3, and I do enjoy that ship. But I think platonic Morgana relationships are actually my favourite.
